What This Year Taught Me

It’s that time again! Only a few days left until we ring in a New Year. As the year draws to a close, I look back at a lot of positive milestones, as well as the occasional meh moments. With a New Year approaching, I’ve decided to highlight two big takeaways from 2015.

Never stop learning – This sounds so cliché but remains an extremely important concept in this crazy journey called life. One cannot overstate the significance of learning different perspectives from family, peers and colleagues on a daily, because these interactions are all filled with valuable learning experiences. If you’re willing, learning becomes a very rewarding experience that brings exposure and a deep appreciation of diversity.

Don’t do short-term resolutions – Now, I’m not too big on setting several resolutions when a new year’s just about to begin. If you haven’t read my previous post on New Year’s resolutions, you should (hint: it’s pretty good). Rather, I prefer the pursuit of continuous self-improvement regardless of the season or time of year. This way, you’re not setting vague or gargantuan goals that’ll probably fall by the way side by the 2nd or 3rd month.

Ultimately, set more sensible goals, reflect (don’t dwell) on achievements, look for areas to grow, and you’re on your way to having a great year.

Cheers to 2016! 👊
